Climb for Wilderness

The Climb for Wilderness is a signature event. For the past 25 years, it has been held annually at the Calgary Tower – in 2017, it will be held at the iconic Bow Building! Our goal is to increase public awareness of wilderness, wildlife and wild water in Alberta. The Climb for Wilderness provides learning opportunities and the challenges to climb all 1188 stairs and raise funds for Alberta Wilderness Association. The event is known as the best Earth Day event in western Canada and attracts more than 1000 individual participants and 150 volunteers annually. Read more »

The world was full of optimism; communism had just fallen in the Soviet Union along with apartheid in South Africa. In solidarity with 176 other countries at the Rio Summit in Brazil, Canada signed the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, intended to guide the world in future sustainable development. Music for the Wild: Fifty Shades of Blues and Blue Rambler

Headline Act

Fifty Shades of Blues. Glennis Houston & Andrea Petrity sing and play blues from the women divas of the 20’s and 30’s. Let them transport you back to the sultry clubs of New Orleans, Chicago, St. Louis and New York when powerful women laid down the foundation of blues, jazz and rock. Fifty Shades of Blues is a piano / vocal duo.

Opening Act

Blue Rambler. Don Gowan, George Campbell & Murray Little play blues-based songs that have strong stories and a solid groove. Their songs are well-aged or are played as if they are. Blue Rambler will get you singing a bit and tapping your feet. Expect to hear tinges of folk, jazz and old country as well as blues.

Music at 7:30pm, doors open at 7:00pm

Wild Voices Soiree 2016

We are excited to be hosting this year's Soiree at SAIT's elegant Macdonald Hall located in Heritage Hall. Our evening not only showcases a performance by the popular band The Wardens who have two CDs to their name, it also features renowned conservationist and explorer Brian Keating as the keynote speaker. Along with a silent auction and Ken Lima-Coelho as MC, it is sure to be a great event.

  • Dinner and evening program begins at 6:30 pm.
