H2Oil Interactive Panel

This year the Edmonton Film Fest will be featuring the film H2Oil. It is a film that asks: What is more important, water or oil? Will the quest for profit overshadow efforts to protect public health and the environment in Canada's richest province? 

In addition many local organizations will be co-hosting an interactive panel with the director Shannon Walsh,  George Poitras of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, Eriel Deranger of the Rainforest Action Network, MacDonald Stainsby of Oil Sands Truth and Heather Milton Lightning of the Indigenous Environmental Network. Reducing Pesticide Use in Edmonton

Spring has sprung in Edmonton and the concern for lawn maintenance and weed control is a growing concern for residents. However, too many residents are turning towards harmful pesticides as an answer. The Canadian Cancer Society (Alberta and North West Territories division) has partnered with Pesticide-Free Edmonton in hopes to create awareness about alternative weed control options and establish a ban on cosmetic use of pesticides in Edmonton. Tar Sands Public Meeting with Linda Duncan MP

Linda has invited Chief Allan Adams of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and Chief Francois Paulette, Elder Spokesman for the Smiths Landing First Nation and former Grand Chief of Treaty Eight, to speak to the meeting and take questions and comments.
