We invite you to take part in a public demonstration in support of our National Parks on Friday, September 7 from Noon to 4 pm in the parking lot at the Glacier Discovery Centre (formerly known as the Icefields Centre) on Highway 93 in Jasper National Park.

Recent federal government decisions to allow inappropriate infrastructure development in National Parks across the country puts the natural landscape and wildlife at risk.  The decisions go against federal Parks law requiring ecological integrity to be the first priority, and there is no evidence that these infrastructure-based developments actually connect people with nature.

We are inviting you to join the demonstration on September 7 to protest inappropriate infrastructure developments in National Parks, like the Brewster Glacier Discovery Walk in Jasper National Park.

Throughout the late morning and early afternoon, people will be on-site making signs and handing out information leaflets to visitors at the Glacier Discovery Centre.

At 2 pm, there will be a program of music, presentations, a dramatization, and a visit from a “Friend of the Goats” from Sunwapta Valley/Tangle Ridge lookout.  Bring your instrument if you play!

Show your support for our National Parks by joining us on September 7.

This event is grassroots organized and driven by individual community members with the support of the Jasper Environmental Association and CPAWS – Northern Alberta Chapter.
